We provide septic service for the Far North, New Zealand area
Septic Tank Service
Visual Inspection: We will check for signs of leaks, wet spots, or backups around the septic tank and drain field.
Tank Inspection: Using a probe to find the lid and by opening the tank, we assess the level of solids, scum, and liquid in the tank. We might also check the condition of the tank for cracks or structural integrity.
Pumping Out: Once the tank is inspected, if the sludge or scum layers are too thick, the tank needs to be pumped. This involves removing the accumulated solids and liquids from the tank. The frequency of pumping can vary, but typically, a household might need this service every 3-5 years, depending on usage and tank size. FNDC recommends service every 5 years at minimum.
Tank Cleaning: After pumping, the walls and bottom of the tank might be cleaned to remove any residual buildup or debris that wasn't removed by the pump.
Filter Cleaning or Replacement: Many modern septic systems have filters that prevent solids from entering the drain field. These need to be cleaned or replaced periodically. We will help you clean this filter and show you how to keep it clear of debris.
Report Problems: If there are any problems we find with your septic, we will inform you and / or make notes on your invoice so that these issues may be addressed with your plumber.

GrEase Trap Service
As a restaurant owner, ensuring your grease trap is regularly emptied is paramount for several reasons. Firstly, grease traps prevent fats, oils, and grease (FOG) from entering the sewer system, where they can solidify and cause blockages. These blockages can lead to sewer backups, not just in your establishment but potentially in the entire community, leading to costly repairs and health hazards.
By maintaining a clean grease trap, you're directly contributing to a healthy environment by reducing the risk of pollution and contamination in local water bodies. Moreover, regular maintenance prevents unpleasant odors, pest infestations, and compliance issues with local health and environmental regulations, safeguarding your business's reputation and the well-being of your community.

Signs your septic tank may need pumping out
There is a bubbling sound
There is a bubbling sound coming from your plumbing when you flush your toilet or when you drain your sink or shower. This often indicates the water is not able to escape to where it needs to go due to a blockage in the plumbing or in the drain field. Your tank could also be full.
There is a smell of septic waste
If you smell septic, there is bound to be a problem somewhere. Ring us and let us know where you are having the smell so we can further trace where the problem could be coming from.
There is a pool of liquid
If you see a pool of septic liquid around your tank, your drain field may blocked or backed up due to heavy rains. Your tank may also be too full and could be overflowing.
Your toilets do not flush
When what you flush doesn’t stay down or go down where it should, there is either a clog in the line, the tank is full or the drain field is blocked. Let us know if you are having problems with all of your plumbing or specific areas, so we can better trace where the problem is coming from. Sometimes you will need to call the plumber in the event emptying the tank and clearing any clogs do not relieve the issue.
You get a letter from the council
In the Far North, New Zealand, a septic tank pump out is required every 5 years to be in compliance with FNDC regulations. You will get a letter in the mail notifying you when it is due.
Septic Waste is touching the tank lid
This is a sure sign your tank needs pumping out immediately before it overflows. Septic should never touch the lid but sit comfortably around 2 feet below the surface to digest properly.
